Lately, whenever I’m faced with the urge to wear a dress, I’ve been challenging myself to style it in a different way just for the heck of it. Put some pants beneath it, or a skirt over it. If the sleeves or the neckline allow it, layer an interesting top, shirt or sweater underneath for a more interesting outcome. Sure, there’s something effortless about just throwing on a dress and walking out the door, but sometimes it feels like a missed opportunity for creating a more unique outfit, don’t you think? So, when I saw this insanely chic Fame & Partners dress, I just knew it would work so well with a ribbed knit sweater from Zara I had laying around my closet; specially because the contrast red trim on the flared sleeves adds just the right pop of color to an otherwise neutral look. To take it further into more unexpected territory, I wore it with my Nike Cortez sneakers and my tan leather Puzzle bag—which, honestly, goes with ANYTHING. And, voilà! One sure fire way to layer a column dress.
